i got an authentic 60’s wool tweed blazer that is nearly identical to this one for less than $2 at woodward’s flea market this weekend (bag o’ clothes for $10). and it fits like a glove. i’m pretty pleased about this.

1880s Whitby Jet and Shell Cameo Earrings, $595 (in the online store)
Victorian cameos of men are pretty rare, and usually in earrings one would be paired with a lady on the opposite earring. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pair of earrings with two men. The fellow on the left earring looks like Shakespeare, but I’m not sure about the right. He’s probably another literary figure, and he’d be pre-Victorian. Any ideas?
an important message. especially for young women.

what i’m reading now.
i’ve read dharma bums twice now- once before it inspired my trip to grand teton national park in september and again, post-backcountry camping in october. kerouac perfectly captures the mood of a lonesome traveler’s wild and spiritual journey. i’m hoping to find the continuation of kerouac’s “dharma bums” journey here in desolation angels.
